A Little More About Us.... Christopher and Bernadette Wagner enjoy a country life up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. The very tiny township of Eland is approximately 30 miles east of Wausau, Wisconsin. We feel blessed and lucky to enjoy a rural lifestyle with our Miniature Dachshunds, and our location is very convenient to visit or have friends visit us from our neighboring States Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois.
Bernadette is the primary caretaker, and devotes her time fully to the care and raising of CBWags4u Miniature Dachshunds. Her practical experience, education, and understanding of dog health, structure & behavior is equally matched by her love of the Miniature Dachshund Breed. Each one of our Miniature Dachshunds has a unique loveable personality that endears them forever in our hearts as the individuals they can be! ![]() We presently have the ability to produce primarily long coat Miniature Dachshunds with English Cream, Imported & Champion Bloodlines that we have carefully studied for many generations. Our objective has been and will continue to be to produce the quality in the three important areas - health, temperament, and conformation. Our cream pedigrees also have a splash of color in the background of the pedigrees that we have included in our breeding program. We do not mix patterns of the parents of Dachshunds when we decide on a pairing - for example: dapples are bred to solid or no pattern. We also verify the type of pattern at the time of birth of each puppy. We are very careful and do extensive research of the health background & conduct testing as necessary before breeding - we work with our veterinarian so that all of our Dachshunds have regular wellness checks, vaccinations, and any urgent care which may include delivery of puppies with a c-section. We also have developed our own "Whole Dachshund Wellness Program" which includes routine preventive care such as parasite prevention, balanced holistic nutrition, and plenty of exercise! For those of you interested in the smooth coat miniature dachshund - we are just in the beginning phases of developing a breeding program of smooth coat miniature dachshunds with a very distinguished pedigree. Please be aware that our adults are very young, and so we do not offer as many opportunities to adopt smooth coat puppies presently. We welcome inquiries for "show homes". We do limited placements because we believe that our primary goal is to produce generations of our own show quality miniature dachshunds. We evaluate each individual puppy's show potential at the age of eight weeks, 6 months, and 1 year. Our own evaluation is done using the dachshund breed standard outline and scoring the puppy on each point made in the standard. Overall what we look at is the health background, structure, and temperament. We also cross reference other experienced show breeders for their opinions before making our final decision to keep for the future or place a puppy as a companion. Keeping or placing a show potential puppy is a decision made with much contemplative thought. We retire our females from our breeding program after three litters per female (unless health reasons provide us with an exception). We provide our clients with a lifetime contractual provision against life threatening genetic health issues on our puppies, and disclose all information to new owners deciding to adopt one of our adults or puppies. We retire our adults at a younger age, and feel that they too deserve a very special retirement home to be loved and pampered forever. We try to describe the personality of each dog so that good companion matches can be made, and we welcome long visits to make sure you have found "the one" who steals your heart. Our fee for the adults gives consideration to the time, care, and training of each individual dog. Our adults are most often spayed or neutered or a provision is made in our written agreement that the companion must be altered within 3 months of adoption. We do prefer to place our special adults that we have loved and cared for since puppyhood in homes that have had experience with adopting an older pet, and have lots of quality time to devote with their new companion. Owning an animal as a companion is a commitment to their lifetime, and a beautiful experience that can enrich a family, and teach love of animals and responsibility to children - If there is any question or concern that we can help with please let us know - we are there for the entire journey - we welcome you to the wonderful world of dachshunds...they will steal your heart forever! We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and thank you for considering us in the addition of a Dachshund to your home!
