Our Dachsies live here in a home environment so they understand being a pet first - and are used to a very happy life here - playing outside with lots of attention from us and all the best care possible.  It is our wish to find a unique forever home for each of the adults we place up for adoption.  We strive to place adults at a young age.  Some of our adults never leave us because they have bonded to us - others we realize that they would prefer a special someone to spend out their days with...how do we decide?  It is never an easy choice to put one of our adults up for adoption, but the best life for our dachshunds is our primary goal.  You may see that some adults stay on this page for a time because  we are never in a hurry to place any of our dachshunds - it is our goal to find the perfect fit for everyone - and every Dachsie!

We only place the Dachshunds on this page as pet companions under a spay/neuter contract, and we prefer that anyone wishing to adopt one of our older adults come to our home to meet their new friend. 

We may consider shipping an older puppy if it does not have any special emotional/physical needs.

We also from time to time have taken in adult Dachshunds that we consider "rescues" - these adults are given lots of love and attention, but may have special needs which we try our best to describe so that they find that special family or individual to open their home to a unique Dachshund. Special needs dogs sometimes are the greatest joy to own; as they offer back love and companionship which we foster here - even dogs that have had bad experiences can find a good home if they are given individual care, patient understanding - and lots and lots of love! 

Each of our Miniature Dachshunds has their individual "bed" or crate to sleep in, and we work on their understanding to go potty outside in the yard - BUT - WE DO NOT GUARANTEE POTTY TRAINING!  We feel that our dogs are well socialized, and understand basic obedience commands given verbally with positive reinforcement.  We also use hand signals in our training because noise can create distractions.

Many times adopting an adult dachshund (or any adult dog) can mean starting over with training, and we ask that you please consider this as an important bit of information.  We believe that an adult can make a wonderful pet if this is understood, and that it will take a lot of love and patience! 

Anyone that is considering adopting one of our Dachshunds must complete our adoption questionnaire. We reserve the right to refuse placement based on our experience, and the needs of each individual dog.

The fee for adopting an adult is  non-refundable, and covers the basic needs, training, and lifetime vet care (all of our dogs are up to date on shots including rabies) that we provide to our dogs.  We feel that it is important that you meet, and get to know an adult when choosing this type of pet for the best fit for you, and the dachsie - THEREFORE WE DO NOT SHIP OUR ADULTS.

Max

Black & Tan Dapple Wire Coat Miniature Dachshund Male.  D.O.B. 5/13/04.  His size is 12 lbs. - he is neutered, up to date on all shots including Rabies, and is micro chipped.  Max is a lover boy - he is very affectionate, and loves to play outside.  He gets along well with other dachsies, but is a dominant male - so he is best suited in a home by himself or with a female.  He listens very well, and is very clean - he goes outside potty, but is a stud dog so he will need additional potty training - We include a "manner or belly band" for our boys placed in new homes.  The manner band is a gentle band around a male's waist that will help with transition to a new home, and further potty training.  We are parting with Max because we will not be focusing on wire coats, and feel that while we love him dearly - he should have a wonderful forever home.  $150 - already neutered.
